Why choose microneedling with Dr H?

A common question I get asked in my clinic is “Does microneedling really work?

The answer is yes…when performed correctly, for the right patients and by trained hands.

Microneedling has become an extremely popular treatment over the last decade. It can be a fantastic treatment, founded on one simple biological principle; controlled skin injury stimulates healing and collagen production. When used appropriately, this treatment can result in smoother, firmer skin with a more even tone.

Let’s take a look at how it works from a medical perspective.

What does microneedling actually do?

Microneedling involves using a medical device with a group of very fine, sterile needles which create controlled microchannels on the surface of the skin. This triggers the body’s natural healing response, increasing the production of collagen, elastin, and new skin cells. These are the structural components that keep skin firm and resilient. This is what maintains a youthful appearance of the skin.

Why is microneedling with Dr H different?

One thing that is important to realise is that not all microneedling treatments are equal. I see more and more people wanting to create their own at-home results using derma rollers or even their own microneedling devices. While this might suit some, there are drawbacks to this approach. Derma rollers are a fixed depth (generally a shorter depth) often not penetrating deep enough to stimulate significant collagen remodeling, and microneedling devices can cause more damage than good if used incorrectly. In a medical setting, we can monitor your skin reaction to the treatment closely and adjust the speed and depth settings on the device accordingly. This ensures that each treatment is safe and controlled, reducing the risk of complications such as infection, scarring, or uneven treatment.

The other thing that sets my treatments apart are the serums I use. Most microneedling treatments involve the use of a ‘glide’ serum, usually hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient for your body to build plump, hydrated and healthy skin, and a simple ‘glide’ allows the microneedling treatment to do its thing. However, in my clinic, I prefer to add a serum to your treatment to supercharge your results.

I have a variety of scientifically backed serums which can be used to target many different skin concerns. This allows me to provide more personalised treatments with fantastic results!

I use Ameson Mesotech serums by Juliette Armand, an advanced professional mesotherapy range designed from decades of research to deliver targeted, high-performance skincare treatments for a variety of aesthetic concerns. These serums contain scientifically formulated active ingredients designed for personalised treatments for both the face and the body that address concerns such as fine lines, loss of elasticity, acne scars, stretch marks, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone. The formulations contain powerful ingredients such as peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and biomimetic compounds that stimulate collagen production, improve skin hydration, and support the skin’s natural regeneration process.

Other options I offer with microneedling include platelet rich plasma (PRP) and Exosomes.

My advice before you try it

Choose an experienced provider. Technique, device quality and sterile practive are essential.

Be wary of extremely cheap treatments. If the price seems to good to be true, it often is, potentially indicating lower standards or non-medical devices.

Commit to a treatment plan. Microneedling is not usually a one-off miracle cure. It works best as a series of treatments to maximise the benefits you will see.

Protect your skin afterwards. Sun protection and proper aftercare are essential for optimising and maintaining your results.

Treat this as an investment into your skin health.

TLDR

Microneedling is not a gimmick or a passing skincare trend. It is a medically supported technique that harnesses the skin’s natural ability to heal and regenerate. When performed correctly, this treatment can produce meaningful improvements in skin texture, scarring, and early signs of ageing with relatively little downtime.

From a doctor’s perspective, what makes microneedling particularly valuable is that it works with the body, stimulating a process that it already knows how to do…repair itself! Combined with science-driven mesotherapy serums, PRP, or exosomes, Dr H provides customised treatments that improve skin texture, hydration, elasticity, and overall skin appearance.
